Golf Business News – Atlas Turf Arabia grass takes root at Diriyah Gate
Atlas Turf Arabia supplied harvested sod and sprouts to the Diriyah Gate Development Authority's golf project, including Riyadh's world-renowned first championship course.
Representing Atlas Turf Arabia's first major project since the establishment of the partnership between Atlas Turf International and Golf Saudi, the DGDA golf facilities will feature Platinum TE Paspalum tee-to-green. This globally recognized, sustainable, salt tolerant, dark green turfgrass is available only in Saudi Arabia through Atlas Turf Arabia.
As a region of great historical and cultural importance, Diriyah is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, faithfully and compassionately restored by the DGDA to preserve, celebrate, and develop the country's iconic landmark into a global attraction.
Near the new residential district on the outskirts of Riyadh Wadi Safar a 27-hole golf course will have facilities for all ages and abilities. This ranges from a pitch and putt, practice facility and academy to a modern competition course designed to meet all standards of the golfing world.
Atlas Turf Arabia is certified to the highest standards by the International Turfgrass Genetic Assurance Program (ITGAP), which ensures that quality standards are followed in the process of planting and producing various grasses used in commercial and residential projects.
John Holmes, President of Atlas Turf International and founder of Atlas Turf Arabia, said: “Diriyah is a unique venue and deserves the highest level of products and services to ensure world-class playing conditions for golfers in the future.
“Platinum TE has a proven track record in the region and around the world, having been selected for more than 30 golf, sports and landscape projects in the Middle East and hundreds more around the world.”
Noah Alireza, CEO of Golf Saudi, said: “This partnership is a testament to the commitment of both parties to the development of golf in Saudi Arabia. The collaborative efforts between Atlas Turf Arabia and DGDA are critical to realizing our shared vision of golf excellence and contributing to the culmination of Vision 2030.”
