Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to leave Leicester City
Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to move on this summer.
The 27-year-old is out of contract in the summer and the Championship outfit are likely to offer him a new deal.
This striker who once ran for Manchester City was not the first to rise and has only started ten games in the league, scoring five goals.
According to Dean Jones, the player has interest from Turkey and Trabzonspor may be willing to offer him a way out. It will be interesting to see if the striker is ready to join them.
The Foxes are currently looking to return to the Premier League and are four points behind the top. They will need the best players in the top flight next year and it makes sense to let Iheanacho move on.
In addition, Jones says that the striker is one of the highest paid players in the team. His departure will also reduce their wage bill.
“It looks like he's going to leave Leicester, and at the moment, the route he might take is to go to Turkey. Trabzonspor is one of his clubs, and these kinds of options might have to be very realistic, even though it seems like it's early in his career. Iheanacho broke out at the same time as Marcus Rashford , and the two were compared during his time at City, but little by little, his form and influence have recently waned. From Leicester's point of view, keeping him doesn't seem to be a sensible move as he is one of the club's top earners, and he has only started ten games in the promotion season.”
Kelechi Iheanacho needs to move on
The 27-year-old has plenty of football and should be looking to join a club where he will get more opportunities in the first team. He needs to play more at this stage of his career.
Signing him on a free transfer could be a coup for Trabzonspor. It will be checked whether they can agree on a contract with the player. The Turkish outfit may not be able to afford his Leicester wages and the player may need to take a pay cut for the move to go through.
