Man City's best and worst players in statement against Brighton
Manchester City beat Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday night to move within one point of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola's side are looking for an unprecedented fourth league title in a row and their fate is in their own hands at this stage, with a game in hand against the Gunners.
City wasted little time in taking the lead thanks to a rare goal from Kevin De Bruyne, an advanced dive that found its way past Jason Steele in the home goal. Phil Foden then scored a first-half strike to kill the game as a contest before the break, and Julian Alvarez later added a fourth.
No one seemed concerned that Erling Haaland was not playing.
These are the best and worst City players in the game according to him 90 minplayer ratings.
Phil Foden: 9/10
At the age of 23, Foden has now reached 51 Premier League goals after passing the game's century milestone. There was a big element of luck on his first night, with a free-kick taking a huge deflection. But his second was pure class, rolling with no use.
Honorable mention
Kyle Walker: 8/10
Speaking of milestones, Walker has played almost 400 times in the Premier League since his debut in the competition in 2010. But it was the first time an England defender had registered two assists in the same top-flight game. He set up De Bruyne's first goal and Alvarez's fourth.
Josko Guardiol: 6/10
On another night, Guardiol might have awarded a penalty for his challenge on Joao Pedro midway through the second half. City were already 4-0 up at the time so it wouldn't have changed the course of the game or the result, but it was strange and could have been avoided.
Speaking of shame
Rodri: 6/10
Instead, like Guardiol, Rodri was the bane of Brighton players and fans when contact with Pascal Gross in the penalty area went unpunished. His passing accuracy was close to 100% and he kept playing the ball, but a few strays left City vulnerable.
