How much Liverpool paid to hire Arne Slot as new manager
Liverpool have agreed a compensation package of up to €15m (£12.9m) to hire Arne Slot as their next manager.
The Reds settled on Slot after a recruitment process that included a look at Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim and, after a day spent in closed talks, agreed a deal with Feyenoord to hire a manager this summer.
In accordance with Ben JacobsLiverpool have agreed to pay €9m (£7.7m) for Slot's services, plus another €2m (£1.7m) in bonuses.
Liverpool have also offered Feyenoord around €4m (£3.4m) for members of Slot's backroom staff to follow him at Anfield, taking compensation of around €15m.
Dutch shop Algemeen Dagblad reports that Slot will bring his assistants, Etienne Reijnen and Sipke Hulshoff to Liverpool along with performance coach Ruben Peeters. Hulshoff also works with the Dutch national team so he will join Liverpool later than others.
Slot still has three games left to play as Feyenoord manager. His side currently sit second in the Eredivisie but, although statistically still in the title race, have conceded defeat to PSV Eindhoven, who boast a nine-point lead and a superior goal difference.
Feyenoord face PEC Zwolle, NEC Nijmegen and Excelsior before the Eredivisie comes to an end on May 19, when he will switch to his new job at Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp still hopes to hand Slot another trophy before the end of the campaign, but the Carabao Cup winners face an uphill battle to control the Premier League title race.
Everton's 2-0 defeat in midweek left Liverpool three points behind Arsenal with four games to play, while Manchester City remain in the lead with a game in hand that could see them go two points clear at the top.
