Germany vs Greece: Preview, predictions and schedule

It is the second of two warm-up games for Germany ahead of them Euro 2024 It happened on Friday as Julian Nagelsmann's team will face Greece in Monchengladbach.

Die Mannschaft's preparations for next summer's tournament got off to a flying start against Ukraine on Monday. The three-time European champions were left frustrated by a performance between the sticks from Anatoliy Trubin, although there was enough on display in Nuremberg to suggest the hosts will be a team to watch out for in the summer.

Nagelsmann still has the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Toni Kroos to welcome back into the fold.

The Germans will be looking to produce a convincing third-round display on Friday with the start of Euro 2024 just over a week away when they kick off against Greece. The athletes will face Scotland in the opener of the tournament on June 14.

Greece was very close to qualifying for the Euros but was defeated by Georgia on penalties in the play-off final. The 2004 champions will not play this summer but have shown signs of improvement over the past few years under Gus Poyet. They will be a formidable test for the Germans on Friday.

Nagelsmann used 16 players against Ukraine on Monday and the German manager should give opportunities to other members of his provisional squad in Monchengladbach.

David Raum and Benjamin Henrichs are among the players who could benefit starting on Friday.

Toni Kroos and Antonio Rudiger are expected to take part after celebrating Real Madrid's 15th Champions League success. Nagelsmann can also call up Nico Schlotterbeck and Niclas Fullkrug.

Germany predicted to face Greece (4-2-3-1): Ter Stegen; Henrichs, Rudiger, Schlotterback, Raum; Kroos, Gundogan; Sane, Muller, Wirtz; Beer.

With Poyet's contract expiring after the Euro 2024 play-offs in March, Greece will be led by Nikos Papadopoulos for the first time on Friday.

Papadopoulos's side are blessed with Premier League talent such as West Ham's Konstantinos Mavropanos, but most are currently competing in the Greek Super League – short of recent Europa Conference League winners Olympiacos.

Greece predicted to face Germany (4-3-3): Vlachodimos; Saliakas, Chatzidiakos, Mavropanos, Giannoulis; Bakesetas, Kourbelis, Mantalos; Masouras, Ioannidis, Tzolis.

Ukraine were a tricky opponent for Germany last week and Greece could cause similar problems. Poyet is out the door but it's hard to imagine a big change on Friday.

The visitors should be stubborn enough to contain their dynamic and vertical hosts but keeping them at bay for 90 minutes will be a major challenge.

Nagelsmann's Germany are very good and will not be closed for two games on the spin.

Prediction: Germany 2-0 Greece
