Marc Cucurella reveals the state of the Chelsea team on Mauricio Pochettino's future

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella says the Blues boss has the full support of the club following the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

Fans continued to debate whether Mauricio Pochettino should continue in charge at Stamford Bridge following a series of poor performances.

The pressure will be a little higher on Saturday as Chelsea battle to come back from 2-0 down to get a deserved draw at Villa Park. A third almost came when Axel Diasi curled a corner into the back of the net – although VAR ruled it out.

After the game, Cucurella admitted that Chelsea's fightback is a sign that the team is still committed to Pochettino.

Asked if the back-to-back is proof of the Chelsea team's commitment to Pochettino, Cucurella admitted: “Yes, definitely. [Pochettino] he spoke very well at halftime, and everyone saw the team's reaction.

“Many games we don't win, and that's part of the game, but I think that's the biggest problem because we have quality and maybe we don't show what we can do. If we lose 5-0, I don't think the manager can do anything.

“I think it's big for us [the players], about our attitude. He has helped us a lot, he has good communication skills, and the team is supportive. We are on a good path.

“We all need to improve every week, stay at the same level, and have the same attitude every minute because we need to win. If we stay together, we can do great things.”

Pochettino, however, is still unsure whether he will continue his job at Stamford Bridge next season, having won just 13 of 33 league games this season.

The manager admitted when he first arrived at Chelsea that his position would be reviewed at the end of the season as part of a process that would also give Pochettino an opportunity to express his feelings to the owners and directors.
