“We had a lot of fun doing it and it's just a bonus to win at the end”

“It's absolutely amazing,” McIlroy said. “We had a great week here in New Orleans. The crowd was amazing, getting the support we had out there. We had a lot of fun doing it and it's just a bonus to win at the end. It won't be better than doing it with this man by my side.”

Lowry added: “Good. I felt very needed. Going into the week we felt we could do with a big jump in the FedEx Cup, let's get 400 points apiece and that's what we did. I feel bad for taking them because Rory took them for me, but I'm taking them.”

Before leaving the TPC Louisiana course, McIlroy and Lowry took the stage while popular local cover band Bag of Donuts played a post-tournament concert. The band handed McIlroy a microphone, and he entertained the crowd, singing Journey's “Don't Stop Believin'.”

“The reason Shane and I started playing golf is because we thought it was fun at some point in our lives,” McIlroy said. “Getting a little bit of that fun back in a week like this, can always help.”
