Ange Postecoglou hits back at critics, insisting he doesn't care
Ange Postecoglou insists he is not concerned about Tottenham's problem with defending pieces ahead of the London derby against Chelsea.
Spurs will be looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats against Newcastle and Arsenal.
That defeat saw increased scrutiny placed on Spurs' defensive ability, with Postecoglou's side conceding 14 goals from set pieces in the Premier League this season, including two against the Gunners.
Postecoglou isn't worried about set pieces
Spurs are chasing a top-four finish and Champions League football next season, but sit seven points behind Aston Villa, despite having two games in hand.
The Australian has repeatedly said this season that he doesn't care about set pieces, and he hammered home the point when he spoke before the Chelsea derby.
“I'm not worried at all,” he told reporters.
“I understand, it's not the answer people want.
“To quote Billy Joel, you're right, I may be crazy, but maybe you're crazy.
“I don't care about it, I never have.
“You journalists have done enough research on me to know that this is not the first time I have been asked about set-pieces in my coaching career.
“There's a reason I'm so comfortable with it.
“In the end I will build a successful team and that will not be because of working with set-pieces.”
Spurs are without Timo Werner for the game against Chelsea, with the striker ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, while left-back Ben Davies is also out.
Tottenham do not have a good record at Stamford Bridge and have not won theirs since 2018, which was their first away win for 28 years.
