Golf Business News – The Golf Foundation's 'Play in May' campaign goes live
Global Edition
Nick Dougherty and the Golf Foundation's new Play In May campaign kicked off today, with every golfer at GB&I being asked to support 'Unleash Your Drive in Schools' through a special competition.
Thanks to the DP World Tour and the Wentworth Club, the Golf Foundation is offering every UK golfer the chance to sign up and 'Play in May', for the chance to play in the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth. The competition has 40 places on offer at the Unleash Your Drive Final at Wentworth Club in August, where the top three players will earn a place in the Pro-Am event in September.
Support for #PlayInMay (a £5 donation must accompany every round played) will help the Golf Foundation's bid to extend the reach of Unleash Your Drive to every UK school. Five years in the making, this mental health program is already generating exciting results since it was launched in September 2023, with more than 500 schools joining so far. Early results showed a 19% increase in mental toughness among students in the program.
While the Golf Foundation charity enjoys the support of key sponsors and Home Nations, Dougherty explained that Unleash Your Drive in Schools is an ambitious project, so the charity needs a little support from all golfers. He is encouraging every golfer in the UK to take up this opportunity to celebrate the sport we all love by getting out and playing it this May.
At the end of May, the top 30 players on the Unleash Your Drive leaderboard will qualify for the Dougherty-hosted golf tournament on the West Course in August – while there is a random drawing for all those who did not qualify, both on and off. legal disability.
