Local legend John Degenkolb powers the Eschborn-Frankfurt race
DEGE has a large fan base in the area around Frankfurt, Germany and the nearby Taunus hills which are home to a host of successful cities. 35-year-old dsm-firmenich PostNL rider John Degenkolb tallied a 2015 victory at Paris-Roubaix and a stage win at each of the big three tours and showed why he is a drawcard with an early breakaway to take the points from the KOMs of Feldberg and Mammolshain 2024 edition of the Eschborn-Frankfurt race.
The victory however went to Lotto Dstny rider Maxim van Gils who was in the leading group when the peloton split and left the riders following towards Frankfurt city. Movistar's Alex Aranburu was second ahead of Israel's Riley Sheehan – Premier Tech.
