Defending champions Ann and Alex Peters from Shifnal Golf Club in Shropshire retained the mother-daughter title with a one-shot victory at Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club in south-west London earlier this month to win the historic event for the fifth time .
“Winning was really exciting and meant a lot to me because Alex is getting married next month so we won't be able to compete like Mrs and Miss Peters again!” said Ann, more than last year who won this event with her daughter in 2010, 2011, 2012.
Alex, a former Ladies European Tour player who returned to novice status three years ago, played a +3 handicap, while her mother had a 6 handicap on a course with holes on both the Pam Barton and JH Taylor long courses. course.
“It made it a lot harder this year, but given the recent rainy weather the course was amazing and the fairways were in good condition, with green in the middle which challenged us all the way to the finish. It's a great event and one of my favorite weekends of the year,” said Ann.
Held in the Richmond area for more than half a century, the 27-hole foursomes event is open to women's pairings from across the UK and remains one of the country's longest-running events for women's golf, having been played since 1932.
Runners-up in another full field for the popular event were Karen and Madelene Kuhler from Walton Heath, while Eliza Jarvis from Hindhead won the U16 Meg Kent Trophy.
