Ryan Garcia reportedly tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine for two tests on April 19, the day before his fight with Devin Haney on the 20th.
Ostarine Positive Test
Dan Rafael reports that the banned performance-enhancing drug Ostarine has tested positive for HIV in a VADA test in the Ryan Garcia vs. Haney fight. If Ryan uses a supplement, he will need to produce it to be tested for the Ostarine substance.
Ryan denies taking anything, and feels that people are attacking him to try to discredit his win. He says he won't give Haney a second chance because he hit him “indiscriminately and lightly.”
Of course, that won't stop Haney, his father, Bill, and their supporters from using Ryan's tests to push for a rematch. Devin and Bill may have to campaign like a few politicians if they want to convince Ryan to give them a second chance.
The WBC can't do anything to force Ryan to fight Haney again because he didn't hold their world title, as he came in at over 3.2 lbs. So, there is no title to strip Ryan, and they can't force him to give Haney a rematch.
“Ryan Garcia tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine in a VADA test related to the Haney fight,” Dan Rafael said. X.
“Failed for Ostarine in the 2nd urine test on April 19 & after the fight on April 20. The sample of April 19 also (from the VADA letter) “tested positive but was not confirmed for 19-Norandrosterone pending analysis of IRMS at the moment.”
Ryan's Answer: Denial and Accusation
“I came here to correct this claim that I cheated. “Everybody knows I'm not kidding,” said Ryan Garcia X, responding to news of his positive test. “Why didn't they come up with this test earlier if they received it earlier?
“Why did they allow me to enter the ring as a cheater and come out with a win, and then they put this in? Again, these are people who attack me for any reason. I have never taken a steroid in my life. “
If Ryan receives a suspension, it will keep him out of the ring for a while, and interfere with his plans to return to action soon. He has said he wants to fight Errol Spence and Gervonta Davis.
