Golden Knights Edge Stars 2-0 to Force Game 7 – Hockey Writers – Vegas Golden Knights
The Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights went back and forth in six games. After Vegas took the first two games and then Dallas the next three, their best-of-seven streak went the distance. On Friday night, the Golden Knights were beaten by the Stars 2-0 even in the Round 1 series 3-3. Now, with a trip to the second round on the line, Sunday will feature the best moments of the Stanley Cup Playoffs: Game 7.
Defense and Defense Win the Day
In what was almost a picture-perfect Game 6 on Friday between the Vancouver Canucks and the Nashville Predators, Dallas and Vegas spent the entire night battling it out. It showed the strength of a solid defense on both sides, incredibly attractive scoring chances and, above all, good goal scoring. Although the Stars lost, goaltender Jake Oettinger could not miss himself. He saved his net from 28 of 29 shots on goal, with a few bright spots to his name.

However, he is bested by Vegas' Adin Hill. He had missed the first four games of the series. He played again in Game 5 in a 3-2 loss, but he again played well with a 23-game shutout in Game 6.
Truth be told, the final score would have been a lot higher than 2-0 if it weren't for the puck bouncing around the goal, frustrating both sides all night. The contest remained scoreless until 9:54 into the third period when Noah Hanifin made the save. He collected the puck in the Dallas zone, rounded a defender and, seeing a perfect screen in front of the Stars goalie, put in the game-winner. Mark Stone would add a late empty netter.
It's do or die time. Come Sunday night, the Golden Knights or Stars will have punched their ticket to the second round of the postseason.
