CHARLOTTE, NC – Winning the Masters comes with a host of benefits. Green Jacket. Lifetime exemption. Honorary membership at Augusta National. A place in the Champion's locker room. And the list goes on and on.

If you're Adam Scott and Charl Schwartzel, you can add one more to the list: the LAB Masters-themed LAB Golf Mezz.1 Max putter.

The 2013 Masters champion is the only player in the Wells Fargo Championship field this week using a custom mallet, but according to Liam Bedford, LAB Golf's head of tourism, it was Schwartzel who came up with the idea when he arrived at Augusta National last month. with a green Mezz.1 Max that caught Scott's eye.

“Charl plays a lot lighter than anybody at 420 to 430 grams,” Bedford told GOLF.com. “That's almost a 100 gram difference compared to the 515 gram Adam's head that was used in the past. Charl felt that a lighter head would be a good option for green speed. ”

Never one to miss an opportunity to learn about new gear, Scott discussed the putter with Schwartzel in the Champions Locker Room and stopped the wheels to get his green Mezz.1 Max.

“The Monday after the Masters,” Bedford recalled, “I got a text from Adam: 'This one is sick! Can you make me another one?'”

Scott helped put LAB on the map, so Bedford was happy to oblige. Last week at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Scott got a green Mezz.1 Max and DF3 to test. Although the putter is almost identical to Scott's previous Mezz.1 Max, Bedford confirmed that it is 65 grams lighter than his previous build at 450 grams.

“Adam just felt like at Augusta there were a few slides going down where he didn't need a heavy head,” he said. “The original plan was to use this putter at Augusta or places that duplicate their green speed.”

With the tour heading to Quail Hollow Club, Scott believes the green speed was perfect for the light Mezz.1 Max. The event also allowed him the opportunity to demonstrate the incredible mechanical flexibility found in rocks. Four words: “For the Use of Kings Only.”

Scott and Schwartzel are the only pros on Tour to boast a putter with those words. And unless another Masters champion comes calling, Bedford confirmed the number of users isn't changing anytime soon.

“If both of them had not passed the champions, maybe we would not have agreed to the request,” he said.

The custom putter is another reminder of how good it is to be a former Masters champion.
