The fallout from a criminal case centered on a Belgium-based match-fixing ring continues.

Two players were arrested after being found guilty of corruption, The International Tennis Integrity Agency announced today.

Alejandro Mendoza Crespothe 34-year-old Bolivian who reached a world peak of No. 741 in 2016, was banned for life and fined $250,000 for committing 20 major offenses under the TACP.

Mendoza was found by Anti-Corruption Officer, Richard McLaren, “engaged in an ongoing pattern of corruption” between 2016 and 2018, including initiating corruption charges by encouraging other players to fix matches for financial gain.

Jorge Panta Herreros, the 28-year-old Peruvian with a world record of 447 singles reached in 2022, was suspended for three years and fined $10,000, as he was found guilty of four major offenses under the TACP, including forging the result. of their two games in a two-year period. Panta's suspension will expire at midnight on April 3, 2027.

The ban is linked to a recently concluded criminal case involving a match-fixing team in Belgium.

Cooperation between ITIA and the Belgian authorities led to the five-year sentence of the syndicate leader, Grigor Sargsyan. Five other players related to this case have had it before approved after failing to respond to ITIA charges in 2023.
