Bayern Munich are holding talks with a replacement for Alphonso Davies amid interest from Real Madrid

Bayern Munich have held talks with AC Milan's Theo Hernandez in case they need to sign a replacement for left-back Alphonso Davies, according to a report.

Davies' contract at the Allianz Arena runs out in 2025 and talks have not progressed over a new deal, leading to growing speculation that Bayern could sell him this summer so they don't lose him on a free transfer 12 months down the line.

Canada is closely linked to Madrid, too Sky Sport Germany reports that Bayern are preparing for his departure by planning for Hernandez.

The 26-year-old player, whose brother Lucas previously played for Bayern, is said to be determined to move to Bavaria. Bayern expect Milan to demand 60 million euros for Hernandez, although negotiations between the two clubs have not yet taken place.

Bayern will not end up going for Hernandez unless Davies leaves, and their new coach will have the power to block a deal with the Frenchman. They are still searching for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel and have already rejected Austrian manager Ralf Rangnick, with former manager Hansi Flick now on the list of contenders.

Davies' move to Madrid has been doubted by the Spanish media in recent weeks due to Bayern's high asking price, with Los Blancos likely to pull off a summer move to sign him on a pre-contract agreement next season.

Davies was used as a winger during Bayern's Champions League defeat to Madrid earlier this week. He came off the bench to put his side ahead with a stunning goal midway through the second half, before Joselu's goal ensured Madrid progressed to the final to face Borussia Dortmund.

The result ensured that Bayern would finish the season without winning a trophy for the first time since 2012.
