Chelsea offer could buy £52m star from PSG

It has been suggested this week that Chelsea could make a bid to sign the £52 million player from Paris-Saint Germain this summer.

Whether or not manager Mauricio Pochettino stays at the club next season, it is widely believed that Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly will want to improve the club's attacking tactics.

The Blues have been tipped to bring in a world-class striker for some time now, with reports dating back to last year suggesting they are in the race to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen as another option for the role.

Other interesting names, such as RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, are also rumored to be on Chelsea's radar for 2024/2025. Pochettino has relied heavily on Cole Palmer, and to a lesser extent Nicolas Jackson, for most of their threats this season – and the club's chiefs are aiming to change that.

Chelsea will also be looking to add more threats from across the pitch. Indeed, Boehly and co are eyeing Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, with some reports suggesting they could use the likes of Raheem Sterling as leverage in a deal for the Frenchman.

There are other options abroad too, such as Paris-Saint Germain star Xavi Simons, who is currently enjoying an excellent loan spell at Germany's RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old, after scoring 19 goals and eight assists while on loan at PSV Eindhoven last season, continues to show PSG chiefs why he deserves a chance – scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists during his time at Leipzig.

A proposal Chelsea could make Xavi Simons offer

If PSG choose to cash in on Simons, reports suggest he will cost around the £52 million mark.

As reported by CBS soccer correspondent Jonathan Johnson in an interview with French soccer specialist CaughtOffside, there has been “talk” of a possible Chelsea bid to sign PSG's Simons – but they could be in trouble.

“It will be interesting to see if that is what Enrique wants, but based on what he has said publicly, he seems to like Simons' profile more,” Johnson said of Simons' future in the French capital.
