Eddie Hearn's Fury Prediction: Cash Knockout Or True Belief?

Promoter Eddie Hearn is teaming up with Tyson Fury to defeat Oleksandr Usyk by knockout next Saturday night, seven days from now, on May 18, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Hearn says he “really” wants WBC heavyweight champion Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) to beat IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), and it's easy to see why .

The Golden Goose Factor

If Fury wins against Usyk, it will be in Anthony Joshua's favor because that will create opportunities for His Majesty to arrange a quick Fury-Joshua fight that will take place later this year.

Eddie's golden goose, Joshua, will cash in big if Fury wins against Usyk, and it's hard to ignore that part of the equation in Hearn's prediction next Saturday.

A win for Fury would open the floodgates for a big money fight with Anthony Joshua, a match that would bring AJ untold riches.

Why Fury's Victory Is Important to Team Joshua

  • Financial spirit: Joshua-Fury = $$$$$
  • Fury is 35 and looking all over the place.
  • Joshua is 34, resurrected under Hearn's magic touch (with the help of four soft touches in a row)

Joshua vs. Fury can be a great fight. If Hearn's prediction of taking out Fury is correct, it increases the chances of the two meeting before the end of the year.

The Saudis will not want to wait and take the chance of Fury losing the rematch with Usyk, because it is possible.

Given Fury's history of celebrating by eating and letting his weight get out of control after big wins, he may lose out on a rematch with Usyk if it happens later this year. That is why it is important for His Majesty to cover the Fury-Joshua fight this year rather than waiting until Fury fights Usyk for the second time.

Can Fury Deliver Hearn's Knockout Prophecy?

“I didn't think he could beat Wladimir Klitschko. I didn't think he could beat Deontay Wilder but I have faced Usyk too,” said promoter Eddie Hearn speaking on Matchroom Boxing discussing the heavyweight fight that will take place next Saturday between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh.

“I believed that AJ would beat Usyk. Right now, if Fury comes out like he did in Wilder II, and is aggressive with smart pressure, I think he can stop him. That's what I'm going through right now,” Hearn said. “I hope Fury can do that, I really want him to win that fight.”
