Boxing Insider Promotions results: Justin figueroa defeats Antoni Armas; John Leonardo Stops Frank Gonzalez

Justin Figueroa, 8-0 fought to keep his record perfect Saturday night in Atlantic City. On the other hand, his opponent, 13-7 Antoni Armas, was hoping to surprise those in attendance at the Tropicana Resort and Casino. Figueroa took his turn for the first time. He applied the pressure well in the second…until the final minutes of the round, that is, when Armas dropped him a little.

That said, Figueroa returned to successful form in the third. He also had an active fourth. However, a shoulder injury from Armas meant the poor guy couldn't continue fighting. This, in turn, resulted in Figueroa winning by technical knockout.

After Figueroa and Armas left the ring, it was time for the main event of the Boxing Insider Promotions' card. 10-1-1 John Leonardo squared off against 12-5 Frank Gonzalez in the eighth round at junior featherweight. The first one was very close. The second saw Leonardo assert himself against Gonzalez. The third was another close round.

Leonardo proved to be the dominant player in the fourth, although the bout remained competitive. Both men fought close to five. That being said, Leonardo was able to successfully attack Gonzalez as the round drew to a close. Leonardo hurt Gonzalez in the sixth and then piled it up. Gonzalez ended up going down, which led to the referee stopping the festivities.
