Erik ten Hag reveals if he regrets taking the Man Utd job

Erik ten Hag says he has no regrets about taking the job as Manchester United manager as his second season at Old Trafford draws to a close.

The Red Devils sit eighth in the Premier League ahead of Sunday's clash with title hopefuls Arsenal, 13 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa after a campaign marred by injuries and poor performances.

Speculation is rife over the Dutchman's future at United – former Red Devils boss Rene Meulensteen even asked Ten Hag to step down – but the 54-year-old has said he does not want to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer permanently.

He said in a pre-match press conference: “I don't regret being here for one second.

“This is a big club. You don't know the challenges you have to face until you join it. But I wanted this challenge and I haven't had one second of regret about that decision. I'm very happy to be here.

“The first year I can say it was a good match, we played our way, maybe we did too much.

“This time we haven't done it and I know why, but we're in the FA Cup final and that's a huge achievement.”

While United are in danger of ending the season with their lowest ever Premier League tally of four points – they currently sit four points behind 58 points for 2021/22 – they remain in search of a second piece of silverware under Ten Hag as they reach the FA Cup final. .

The game will be played at Wembley Stadium on May 25 and Ten Hag's team will face Manchester City in a rematch of last season's final in the famous English Cup competition. They were unsuccessful against their local rivals, losing 2-1 as two goals from Ilkay Gundogan canceled out Bruno Fernandes' penalty.
