Lomachenko made a point of stopping Kambosos Jr from winning the IBF Lightweight title

RESULT: Vasiliy Lomachenko wins the vacant IBF Lightweight title at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia by stopping George Kambosos Jr at 2.49 in the 11th round.

IMPORTANT TIMES: There was a threat in Lomachenko at times against Kambosos. The Ukrainian needed to prove a point and a body shot put the Aussie down in the penultimate round and ended the fight as a warning to his rivals.

RECORDS: Lomachenko moves to 18-3 (12 KOs) and Kambosos Jr now sits at 21-3 (10 KOs).

TALKING POINT: It's been a year since they lost to Devin Haney and many were wondering if the style of the loss combined with the time remaining would have taken a toll on Lomachenko. This 36-year-old player answered everyone with emphasis, but only when compared to the highest level will we know what exactly he left behind.

QUOTABLE: “Today I am again the world champion and this world title belongs to my father… I want to thank him very much and thank him. He built me, he trained me… this is my father's,” said Lomachenko.

“I am the mold of Arturo Gatti, Mickey Ward. We don't take easy battles. He is there [Lomachenko] one of the best moments. He deserves that belt,” said Kambosos.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? In the final stages of his career, motivation will be key for Lomachenko. Shakur Stevenson, Gervonta Davis and the winner of next week's fight between Emanuel Navarrete and Denys Berinchyk will check the box for his next fight. Lomachenko vs. Stevenson or Davis would be an interesting prospect for boxing fans.
