Roger Federer's beautiful farewell brought many to tears.

We see the emotion as Federer records his retirement announcement, we see a visual explosion of the Swiss Maestro's appearance on home video, we hear wife Mirka's voice for the first time in a long time and we see Federer's Big 4 rivals come together for his emotional exit. in the Laver Cup at London's O2 Arena.
British filmmaker Asif Kapadia, his critically acclaimed 2015 documentary about the artist Amy Winehouse, “Amy”, Academy Award winner for best documentary, is leading the project. Kapadia, who has also directed award-winning films about Diego Maradona and race car driver Ayrton Senna, worked with director Joe Sabia on the Federer documentary.
The 4 biggest rivals—Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray—and other great players—will all be featured as interview subjects in this documentary.
Remember, back in September of 2022, Federer had an emotional exit partnering Rafa Nadal in his final doubles match at the Laver Cup in London.
The packed crowd at the O2 Arena stood as they showered the 41-year-old Swiss star with a standing ovation while tears filled Federer's eyes and he touched his hand to his heart in appreciation.
Laver Cup fans gave the legend a send-off in London—and Federer walked off the stage with grace and gratitude.
What many fans didn't know: Federer was followed throughout his final event by behind-the-scenes cameras.
The idea was to write Federer's farewell letter with a home movie that he planned to show to family and friends. However, when he saw some of the photos, Federer realized that “we captured so many powerful moments” that he wanted to share them with the world.
“Initially, the idea was to capture the last moments of my professional tennis career to have later to show my family and friends,” Federer said. “When I was working, I used to avoid having cameras around me and my family, especially during important moments. But I saw no harm in shooting this as it was not intended for the public.
“However, we caught many powerful moments, and it turned into a deeply personal journey. I am delighted to partner with Prime Video due to their huge global reach and significant presence in the film industry. This ensures that the story of my last days in tennis will resonate with fans and viewers around the world.”
Former world number 1 Federer, who ruled the world for 310 weeks, still rules the hearts of fans around the world.
In his farewell performance, Federer he is a partner of a rival and a friend Rafael Nadal in Fedal's fitting farewell to the Laver Cup in London.
The reigning champions held a match point, but could not seal it as Americans Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe separated Federer and Nadal in a thrilling match.
After bowing out in his final match, Federer received a bear-hug from Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini.
Afterwards, Federer and Nadal sat together on the European Team bench, holding hands and sharing tears.
The night could have been more of a celebration of Federer's career than just competition and was a close curtain call.
“It feels like a celebration to me,” Federer told Jim Courier and the crowd in his on-court interview. “I wanted it to feel like it was over and it was exactly what I was hoping for. So thank you. It was a great trip. I would do it again.”
In an interview with Radioestadio NocheNadal said seeing Federer's frustration moved him to tears, on the court and later in the locker room.
“It was a difficult time because I didn't want to cry either,” Nadal told Radioestadio Noche. mine.
“When you see someone you know saying goodbye, it's hard not to feel sad. It got a little out of hand, and the worst part was that when I went to the room I suddenly had a nervous breakdown again. It was difficult for it not to happen because of everything that happened that night.”
