Oilers Outlast Canucks Late to Win Game 4, Tie Series – Hockey Writers – Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers survived a late comeback by the Vancouver Canucks to win Game 4, 3-2, and tie their second-round series 2-2.
In the first half, the Oilers opened the scoring with a power play goal by Leon Draisaitl. His cry on the man advantage continued with his sixth power play goal of the playoffs. It was his eighth playoff goal overall. The score remained 1-0 after one.
Edmonton scored another goal to make it 2-0 when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins fired a shot past Arturs Silovs.
The Oilers found themselves in the driver's seat with just one period remaining. They dominated the game with more shots in the second half (14) than the Canucks had in the first two halves combined (13).

But the Canucks came back in the third period. Conor Garland broke through with his second goal of the final to make it 2-1. There was 1:41 left in the game and the goalkeeper pulled an extra attacker, Dakota Joshua bent Brock Boeser's shot into the net to tie the game at 2-2.
It appeared briefly that we would have another game in this series going into overtime. But Edmonton was still one of them. Evan Bouchard gave the Oilers a goal with 38 seconds left. The Oilers won. The thread is tied.
Calvin Pickard netted for the Oilers over Stuart Skinner. He delivered, saving 19 of 21 shots. Silov made 27 of 30 saves for the Canucks. Vancouver went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Oilers cashed in – hitting one of two power play opportunities. The Oilers scored on the man advantage once and gave up one goal.
The series will return to Vancouver on Thursday for Game 5. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 pm EDT and 7 pm PDT.
