Inter Miami vs DC United: Preview, predictions and schedule
Inter Miami returns home to Chase Stadium to face Eastern Conference foes DC United this weekend, looking to extend its six-game unbeaten run.
The streaking Herons haven't looked back since their April 13 win over Sporting Kansas City. That victory fueled a five-game winning streak with a recent draw with Orlando City for Gerardo 'Tata' Martino's side, the south Florida outfit now amassing 28 points from 14 games played and sitting first in the Supporters' Shield.
While DC United haven't enjoyed as much success as Miami in 2024, they've managed an impressive campaign so far under new coach Troy Lesesne. The former interim manager of the New York Red Bulls guided the team to eighth place in the division, thanks in part to Christian Benteke's 11 goals for the Black and Red which saw them collect 17 points from 13 games they played.
The two Eastern Conference sides last met in mid-March, with the Herons winning 3-1 at Audi Field without Lionel Messi but instead Luis Suarez leading the way with two goals.

New signing Federico Redondo is edging closer to a return for the Herons after he appears to have made a successful knee recovery. Diego Gomez could also return to Martino's squad later this month after recovering from an ankle problem.
Jordi Alba returned on Wednesday night for his first appearance since April 13 after recovering from a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Messi's status is still up in the air as he scored a narrow goal against Montreal and missed the Orlando game.
Inter Miami predicted to face DC United (4-3-3): Applicant; Weigandt, Aviles, Kryvtsov, Alba; Gressel, Busquets, Ruiz; Rojas, Suarez, Taylor.
DC manager Lesesne has no new injuries in his camp, which means he will have his full team to choose from against Miami.
DC United predicted to face Inter Miami (3-1-4-2): Bono; McVey, Bartlett, Akinmboni; Hopkins; Stroud, Pirani, Peltola, Santos; Benteke, Dajome.
Even without the legendary Messi, the Herons should have enough in them to get the job done at home against DC.
Benteke will find the net again this season, but the likes of Luis Suarez and Matias Rojas will wreak havoc on the DC backline to secure the three points in Miami.
Prediction: Inter Miami 3-1 DC United
