Sheffield United vs Tottenham: Preview, predictions and fixtures

Tottenham aim to secure their place in next season's Europa League when they visit Sheffield United to conclude their campaign on Sunday afternoon.

Many Spurs supporters were quick to shake off memories of Tuesday night; where others were congratulating the Lilywhites for ending Arsenal's Premier League title challenge.

Manchester City's 2-0 win in N17 means the Cityzens will go two points clear before the final day.

Spurs do not have their own title ambitions and, despite their unproductive finish to the 2023/24 season, there is no denying that there is a foundation for Ange Postecoglou to build on. Returning to the Europa League next season should be considered a success.

However, defeat on Sunday will put them at risk of being eaten by London rivals Chelsea. Sheffield Utd, however, were relegated in April and are one of the worst teams in the history of the Premier League having collected just 16 points all season. Chris Wilder's have lost consecutive games since it was confirmed that they are out.

Here it is 90 min preview of Sunday's clash at Bramall Lane.

Chris Basham is out for a long time for the Blades, while Wilder may be without John Egan again on Sunday due to a calf problem.

A thigh injury is likely to rule George Baldock out, while Oli McBurnie, Rhys Norrington Davies, Tom Davies and Daniel Jebbison are all expected to miss out.

Sheffield Utd predicted to face Tottenham (3-5-2): Foderingham; Souza, Trusty, Robinson; Bogle, Hamer, Arblaster, Brooks, Larouci; Diaz, Archer.

Tottenham's injury list has grown again in recent weeks, with Yves Bissouma the latest to join the medical table.

Bissouma, Timo Werner, Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies and Richarlison will all miss Sunday's trip to Bramall Lane.

Postecoglou is also without Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon and Fraser Forster for the final game of the season.

Tottenham predicted to face Sheffield Utd (4-3-3): Vicar; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Van de Ven; Bentancur, Sarr, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Johnson.

They couldn't, right? Tottenham's defeat on Sunday against a poor Sheffield Utd side will open the door for Chelsea to grab fifth place on the final day.

Spurs have struggled through a tough schedule and it would be great if they were beaten on Sunday after their manager complained of a weak squad.

However, Spurs played well against City, and Postecoglou ended up making changes in terms of the system and personnel, and these changes should be very successful against the lower level team. Tottenham could threaten defeat on the final day, but they will eventually get over the line.

Prediction: Sheffield Utd 1-3 Tottenham
