Michael Porter Jr after the ejection: If I had played the way I usually do, we would have won the series

“This was a bad series,” Porter said after shooting 3 for 12 in a 98-90 Game 7 loss. “I felt like I might have had one or two good games in the seven we've played. Part of it was the way they monitored. Part of it was (that) my shot wasn't falling. It's just difficult because I know if I would have played the way I usually play, we would have won this series. And there are many things that could have been different as a team, but I know if I had played my part, we would have won the series. And I have to live with that.”

What is the noise on Twitter?

Duncan too @NateDuncanNBA

Something that I thought didn't get enough attention in these playoffs is how much Michael Porter Jr.'s defense has declined compared to last year. He stood up last year, but the Nuggets were afraid of him guarding Ant or KAT 1 on 1 and that led to their doubling. – 2:13 AM

Vinny Benedetto @Benedetto

After Michael Porter Jr. hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 72 with 10:08 to play, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray were the only Nuggets to score the rest of the way. – 11:55 PM

Katy Winge @katywinge

Michael Porter Jr said he apologized to the team after the game and felt like the loss was on him. He said if he had played the way he knew he could play the Nuggets would have won the series. – 11:03 PM

TJ McBride @TJMcBrideNBA

Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. they reached the wall. They all need to improve in the next phase and I'm eager to see what they look like next year.
Also, it feels like we haven't seen a truly hungry Nuggets team in years. Next season should be interesting. – 10:46 PM

Ben Anderson @BensHoops

The Nuggets getting nothing from anyone not named Jokic/Murray is a big idiot at home.
This is where the role players are supposed to control, but Gordon, MPJ, and KCP did not show up. – 10:22 PM

Ryan Blackburn @NBABlackburn

MPJs will have to be stronger on glass than that. – 10:16 PM

Om Youngmisuk @NotoriousOHM

Murray has 31 points. Jokic has 28 and 18. They could use a third party to help but Michael Porter Jr. he is 3-for-12. Aaron Gordon is 2-for-5 and leans on him for defense. It will have to be Murray-Jokic to keep the repeat hopes alive. – 10:15 p.m

Ryan Blackburn @NBABlackburn

Michael Porter Jr. he has three straight games of single digit points while Jokic/Murray has the best defensive pressure/rim protection in the NBA.
It's time for him to do three. – 9:52 PM

Law Murray @LawMurrayTheNU

Only players in the first half with more than 2 field goals:

Christian Braun gets his first rest of the second quarter. played for 10 minutes. Michael porter returns to look for more size on the T'Wolves bigs. – 9:02 PM

Stephen No @StepNoh

Look at Jokic's eyes. He never once looks at KCP in the corner, he looks down on MPJ instead. He's totally Conley.
Elite deception for Minnesota's defense. pic.twitter.com/3jXOitpl6Y8:40 p.m

Gordon Gross @GMoneyNuggs

MPJ is fighting hard on both sides, and now that he has seen that the gun is going down hopefully he can stop fighting. A good start from him and Murray to help Jokic, and the early bricks in a good look turn into makes. – 8:37 PM

Law Murray @LawMurrayTheNU

7 rebounds for MPJ already and now he has a few buckets after being the last starter to score. – 8:35 PM

Sam Amick @sam_amick

First Jamal Murray is hot, now he's MPJ. Wolves may want to find their answer here before it's too late. Denver leads 30-19. – 8:35 PM

Katy Winge @katywinge

MPJ already has 7 rebounds – huge impact!!! – 8:35 PM

Law Murray @LawMurrayTheNU

Denver's biggest concern: 11 minutes in the first quarter for all starters except MPJ
Their bench is not good and Michael Malone is running out of players – 8:28 PM

Kyle Ratke @Kyle_Ratke

Mistakes on both sides. The Wolves missed skip passes early. MPJ I was bet under him. It will be a war. – 8:24 PM

Jon Krawczynski @Jon Krawczynski

Both teams started 7-19 on the field.
Edwards 1-5
MPJ 0-4
Some intensity out there on both sides. Love the momentum. – 8:24 PM

Ryan Blackburn @NBABlackburn

Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic are slowly settling the Nuggets. Good to see Murray getting baskets early.
Michael Porter can't afford one. Those three were down, around, and out.
On the other hand, Denver's defense was solid, but they dodged some bullets. – 8:23 PM

Tony Jones @Tjonesonthenba

End of first period: Nuggets trail Minnesota 9-5….Jamal Murray is 1 of 5 from the field. Michael Porter Jr. he is 0 for 3…..Nikola Jokic is 1 for 3…Nuggets are a combined 2 for 12….. – 8:14 PM

Michael Porter Jr.:
“I feel that the team in this series that struck first was successful throughout the game.”
He said the first quarter was very important and it was difficult to fight if either team got an early lead. – 2:44 PM

More on this story

“I'm not going to sit here and pretend it's not a burden, even if I didn't think about it all day every day. But that's no excuse,” Porter said after Game 7. “I am a better player than I played in this series. I am a better shooter than what I shot in this series. In the NBA, you have to be able to separate the off-court issues from your on-court performance. So I have no excuses. … I told my colleagues I'm sorry. I feel like this is for me.” -via The Denver Post / May 20, 2024

Evan Sidery: Zachary Risacher, who will be heavily considered by the Hawks and the Wizards at the top of the 2024 NBA Draft, put together a monster outing yesterday: 28 points in 29 5/7 minutes on 3s Risacher has earned scouts comparisons to Michael Porter Jr. . because of his shooting range he stands at 6-foot-10. Atlanta's decision makers – GM Landry Fields, Assistant GM Kyle Korver, HC Quin Snyder – flew out to watch Risacher this week in France. – with Twitter @esidery / May 19, 2024

Ryan Blackburn: Michael Porter Jr.: “I've got to redo it. I really should be a monster in a glass.” About playing with him: “They don't leave me. They've been sticking with me, but I've got to find a way to touch the game offensively and on the glass.” – with Twitter @NBABlackburn / May 18, 2024
