Leeds' “Good” £7,500-a-week player is about to leave

Leeds United's “best” player is now believed to be closing in on a summer exit from Elland Road, with a deal agreed elsewhere.
Leeds transfer news
The Whites could have a busy summer ahead of them, with new arrivals being signed as a number of key players could be on their way out the Elland Road exit.
A reported move forward is Illan Meslier, who has been linked with a move to Marseille in the summer. A move to France is thought to be attractive to the Leeds goalkeeper as he looks likely to move from playing in the Championship to Ligue 1.
Diego Llorente and Georginio Rutter are two others who could move on to pastures new between now and the start of next season, while the same applies to star winger Crysencio Summerville, for whom the Whites want around £40m this summer. Journalist Ben Jacobs acknowledged the possibility of an exit, saying: “I've been told that if a player says he wants to leave a big Premier League club like Chelsea, Leeds won't stand in his way.”
In terms of new signings, Cohaib Driouech has been linked with a move to Eredivisie side Excelsior Leeds, who will replace Wilfried Gnonto should the Italian also leave.
Leeds' “Good” player is on his way out
According to a new update from the Football InsiderCharlie Cresswell is closing in on an exit from Leeds this summer, with a deal agreed with Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
Treatment has been completed for the 21-year-old, but now certain obstacles appear to be being overcome, and a move is set to be confirmed for a fee of around £4m. Cresswell had previously failed to agree personal terms with the Ligue 1 outfit.
In fact, this feels like the right time for Cresswell's Leeds journey to come to an end, given that he has struggled to be seen as a key player by Daniel Farke.
The defender made just 14 appearances for the Whites, and was given just one Championship appearance last season, playing just 135 minutes in the competition throughout the 2023/24 campaign.
That said, Gary Rowett has previously praised Cresswell, having worked alongside him during the Leeds man's 2022/23 loan spell at Millwall, calling him “fantastic”, adding:
“He has the ability to find the right time. We've seen that with a lot of our defenders… Cresswell is five years old. [goals]and that's another nice little skill to have.”

Cresswell unfortunately did not enjoy a good relationship with Farke at Leeds, with the manager seemingly refusing to bring him back into the first team as the German seemed concerned about his attitude.
The £7,500-a-week Cresswell will hopefully continue a good career, mature with age and enjoy regular football, but the time is right to part ways with Leeds, earning them good money in the process.
