Ajax appointed Farioli as the new coach
Francesco Farioli hopes to “get back in touch with the club's DNA” after being appointed as Ajax's new coach on a three-year contract.
The Italian moves to Amsterdam from Nice, where he enjoyed a good year, guiding them to fifth place in Ligue 1.
He takes over from interim manager John van 't Schip, who helped the club bounce back from a poor start to the Eredivisie campaign to finish fifth.
Farioli told the club's website: “I am happy to be here in Amsterdam, and together with the rest of the staff, we will give ourselves wholeheartedly.” We want to reconnect with the DNA of the group, aiming to bring new energy with a positive way of working and thinking.
“I know there is a lot of work to be done, but we have started to prepare. We don't want to waste time preparing for the new season and getting Ajax back where they belong.”

Farioli was also linked with Brighton but Ajax were quick to snap up the 35-year-old player.
The team's technical director Alex Kroes said: “Francesco is a coach who is very busy with his work, he thinks about everything down to the smallest detail, and is able to convey his thoughts to his team effectively.
“We were very enthusiastic about the conversations we had with him, but also about the information we had gathered about him previously. For example, about his way of working and his way of thinking about football. You can see his way of working and thinking clearly in his training sessions and during matches.
“Everything indicates that Francesco is a smart man who knows how to work well with people, which is also the most important part of the job. All in all, we are sure that he will fit in well at Ajax.”
