Jack Catterall wants to end the Josh Taylor feud and never talk about him again

JACK CATTERALL insists emotion will not affect his rematch with Josh Taylor on Saturday night (May 25) in Leeds.

The super-lightweights meet at the First Direct Arena two years after the most talked-about decision by the judges in years. On that February night in Glasgow, Taylor agreed with the decision to split. The fallout was highly charged, raw and involved many angry exchanges from both sides online.

Catterll and Taylor's defiance also came to the fore during two recent press conferences in Edinburgh and Manchester to promote the war. Said the Englishman Debate NewsHowever, that emotion will not carry over into the ring on Saturday and affect his performance.

“I don't fight with emotions,” Catterall said. “[I’m] it's very calculated and very open. That being said, there was a build up of emotions. High emotions, many things said, but you must learn to differentiate, fight smartly, and not let emotions affect your performance. “

Catterl, 28-1 (13 KOs), is undefeated in his two fights since against Darragh Foley and Jorge Linares, respectively. Matchroom, who promotes Catterll, holds many aces in the super-lightweight division, and the 30-year-old could be assured of another big fight next time out if he beats Taylor. However, if 'El Gato' emerges victorious and the rematch turns out to be a more fan-friendly encounter than the first, then a trilogy could be another option for him.

“I think that all lies with the broadcasters, as far as DAZN and Matchroom,” said Catterll.

“If they see that it was an explosive, powerful fight then we do it again, we do a trilogy but right now I'm focused on beating him. [on] On Saturday. I want to close that chapter and not talk about Josh again.”
