Anthony Martial announces his departure for Manchester United

Manchester United striker, Anthony Martial, has revealed that he is leaving the club as a free agent.

The Frenchman's contract expires in the summer and with no extension tabled by the club, there will be a parting of ways.

He wrote a letter to the fans on social media, thanking them for their support during the nine years he has been running for this team.

On Instagram, he said: “Dear Manchester United fans, it is with great emotion that I am writing to you today to say goodbye.

“After nine years in the team, the time has come for me to open a new page in my career.

“Since I arrived in 2015, I have had the great honor of wearing this shirt and playing in front of you, the best fans in the world!

“You have been an unwavering support, in good times and in bad times. Your love and faithfulness have been a constant source of encouragement for me.

“I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me.

“Your songs, your encouragement and your love for the band are memories that will be engraved in my heart forever.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all my teammates, technical staff and all the club members I have met in the 9 years I have been here.

“I am proud that I was able to share these stories with you.

“Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club left a mark on my career and gave me a great opportunity to play in front of you.

“I am leaving to face new challenges, I will always be a Red Devil and I will continue to follow the team's results with determination.

“Thanks again for everything, and see you soon.”

Martial arrived in Manchester in 2015, signing a deal worth around £60million.

The former Monaco man hit the ground running, scoring a stunning solo effort against Liverpool.

After scoring 17 goals in his debut season, Martial bettered his previous tally in 2019-20, scoring 23 times.

But injuries played their part in his absence from the club and he eventually joined Sevilla in 2022.

This season, the 28-year-old has made just 19 appearances and is rarely a starter.

He has been linked with a move to Italy, with Inter Milan reportedly keen to sign the free agent.
