Celtic management will back Rodgers in a major transfer update for Adam Idah

Celtic are ready to back Brendan Rodgers this summer, and are already lining up their first permanent signing, according to reports.

Although it is far from the first season for Celtic, they have once again run out of ammunition and have confirmed that they will be in the Champions League again next season, which will significantly improve their income.

Supporters will be hoping the money is spent this summer though, as they look to avoid the embarrassment of last season, when they finished bottom of their group with just four points, and the second-worst goal difference of all the clubs.

So far, much of the focus has been on departures: Joe Hart has confirmed his retirement, leaving Celtic looking for a new number one this summer, while Matt O'Riley has been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic Park this summer after Atletico. Madrid saw the request rejected in January.

But now, an update has emerged which will leave Celtic fans with high hopes for their summer plans.

The Celtic board are “committed” to Idah's signing

This comes courtesy of the Daily Record, who reveal that the Celtic board are “committed” to making Idah's loan move from Norwich City permanent this summer.

Since arriving in January, the striker has found the net nine times, most recently winning the Scottish Cup, and Rodgers has made it clear that he would like to keep the 23-year-old this summer.

“The board knows how I feel about Adam, that was the reason for bringing him in,” said Rodgers. “He has been a great inspiration to us, especially in the last few months.

“What he has done since coming in is to show that he is a goalscorer. You get different types of goals. He has good movement in the box and copes in moments of pressure. Today, he was like a real number nine sniffing in and out of the box.

“He's been huge for us and he's someone I'd love to do something with. I hope we can do something. He has a long contract at Norwich but he is definitely someone I would like to bring back here.”

Celtic were given the opportunity to chase the Irishman after Norwich failed to gain promotion to the Premier League, and the Canaries are believed to be seeking a fee of around £6m to part with Idah permanently even though the striker is still with him. four years to run his £23,000-a-week deal in East Anglia.

Although the striker struggled at Carrow Road, he seems to have found his feet north of the border, and could become a legend at Celtic Park if they can get a deal over the line.
