The Chelsea board wants to sell Conor Gallagher on June 30 amid interest

Chelsea need to sell some of their players by June 30 to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Loss Regulations and Conor Gallagher is one of the names on their list.

The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since last summer as Tottenham were a club interested in signing the 24-year-old. The North London outfit is still part of the race but it is not as easy to make a deal as it would have been last year, reports the Independent.

The report claims that Spurs have now been joined by Aston Villa in the race, with Unai Emery looking to bring Gallagehr to Villa Park to strengthen the squad ahead of next season's Champions League campaign.

Interested parties have a strong chance of signing the Chelsea star as the Blues need to sell a number of players before June 30 to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules. Selling homegrown stars is best for the West London club as it will go down as pure profit.

Conor Gallagher could be sold by Chelsea this summer

Conor Gallagher's situation is the main reason why Mauricio Pochettino left

According to The Independent, Chelsea's situation with Gallagher is understood to be one of the reasons for Mauricio Pochettino's departure last week, as the Argentinian does not want to sell the midfielder.

The 24-year-old has been a key player in the Tottenham manager's Chelsea squad, making 50 appearances for the Blues throughout the 2023/24 campaign. This English coach was also given the captain's belt in the absence of Reece James, which shows how much he is respected by Pochettino.

Many Chelsea fans will not want to see Gallagher leave this summer but he looks like a player threatened with being shown the exit door by the Blues management.
