The famous manager turned down a managerial job at Leicester City

Maurizio Sarri has turned down the chance to manage Leicester City as he awaits better offers, according to reports.

Sarri stepped down from his position at Lazio in March after almost three years in charge following a breakdown in the relationship between himself and his players.

The 65-year-old has been out of work since then and is understood to be in no rush to choose her next managerial adventure.

According to Sportitalia (via Football Italia), Sarri has been approached by Leicester to replace Enzo Maresca, who is set to be announced as Mauricio Pochettino's successor at Chelsea.

Sarri turned down the chance for Leicester

Despite Leicester winning promotion to the Premier League under Maresca, it is understood that Sarri is not interested in joining the Foxes.

Instead, he is willing to wait for more exciting opportunities and has been linked with the likes of Fiorentina, Bologna and Panathinaikos.

Sarri would bring a wealth of pedigree to the King Power Stadium, with the former banker 34 years into his managerial career.

During that time, he managed major clubs, including Napoli, Juventus and Chelsea, winning the Europa League and reaching the final of the EFL Cup and later.

A return to the English top flight could be difficult for Leicester, who face the prospect of being stripped of anywhere from six to 15 points due to financial breaches, according to the Telegraph.
