'It's the history and culture of the club'

The coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, says that winning the Champions League is a habit of the team.

Los Blancos secured their 15th title after beating Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday night, extending their record even further.

They also won eight more championships than AC Milan, the second most successful European club.

Madrid's dominance in the top flight is to be expected and although it wasn't at its best against its German rivals, it did what everyone knew it would do under the pitch in London.

Dortmund had many great chances but failed to take them in the first half and they were almost punished by the LaLiga champions.

Dani Carvajal scored the all-important opener, heading the ball into the far corner from the set-piece before Vinicius Junior sealed the deal late on.

As always, Ancelotti was calm and lied on the touchline but there were glimpses of full emotion as he celebrated with the team.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, he said: “It looks like a dream but it's true. I'm really happy.

“It's a really tough game as usual, they played better in the first half, we played better in the second half, but the final is always like this.

“We managed to win, it was a great season and we are very happy to win the cup again.”

Madrid have a way of winning under Ancelotti and it seems inevitable that whenever they are in the semi-finals, victory is almost guaranteed.

They have not lost in the Champions League final since 1981 and Ancelotti says that no matter how many times they have won it before, it will always be a tradition for the club to come back and lift the famous title.

He continued: “It's the history and culture of the club, of course the quality of the players, the club is a family, we work perfectly without problems and the atmosphere is really good in the dressing room.

“I need to thank the club and the players, not too selfish, really humble, it was not difficult to manage the squad this season.”
