The reporter hopes the £60m star will now choose a move to Chelsea over Man Utd

The Premier League star could opt to sign for Chelsea this summer ahead of Manchester United, according to a reporter.

Chelsea transfer rumours

Another transfer window, another big money move from Chelsea? The west Londoners have been on a spending spree since Todd Boehly took over, and around £420m was spent on signings in the 2023/24 season. Last campaign, meanwhile, saw the Blues bring in a host of players for around £590m. Spending more than £1b over two seasons is a huge undertaking but the club is not yet done with transferring over their senior squad and spending big.

He has done wonders this season in the Premier League

Before the arrival of Enzo Maresca, his new team seemed to be busy in the transfer of players. Chelsea are interested in Brest defender Bradley Locko, are reportedly eyeing a move for former Leeds United defender Raphinha and could look to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are interested in signing Georgiy Sudakov, currently with Shakhtar Donetsk, who is considered one of their most important players.

The reporter believes the £60m star will choose Chelsea over Man Utd

Now, the long-term target is set to move to the Emirates in the coming months. The player in question? Michael Olise of Crystal Palace.

Last week, it was reported that Arsenal are the frontrunners in the race for the 22-year-old. However, it looks like Chelsea and Manchester United will be battling it out for the defender's signature this summer, with the former seemingly having a chance to overtake United at the moment.

Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

Discussing recent Chelsea transfer news, journalist Simon Phillips told Caught Offside that he felt confident Olise would choose Chelsea over the Red Devils: “I am increasingly hearing the sound of defenders in the media, and the two names I hear the most are Michael Olise and Crysencio Summerville of Leeds United.

“Olise has been wanted by the club for a long time now as Joe Shields is driving the move. A second source has now added more confidence that Olise will choose Chelsea over Manchester United, following my senior source saying so last week. We'll have to see how that plays out over the next few days/weeks. ”

Olise is contracted at Selhurst Park until 2027 but reportedly has a £60m release clause. While that is a huge sum, Chelsea have proven under Boehly that they are more than willing to spend to achieve their goals, even without Champions League football. Olise has also been proven by the Premier League, having scored ten goals and assisted six in 19 league outings for the Eagles in 2023/24. Two of those goals came in Palace's 4-0 drubbing of Manchester United in May, giving the Manchester club a closer look at the talent they are fighting to sign alongside Chelsea.
