Trent Alexander-Arnold “wasn't in any doubt” where he played following England's win

Trent Alexander-Arnold admitted he was “not in a fight” playing for England following their win over Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday night.

The Three Lions ran out 3-0 winners at St James' Park following an improved second half with Cole Palmer, Alexander-Arnold and Harry Kane scoring.

The 25-year-old scored the goal of the night when he volleyed into the far corner following a superb pass from Jack Grealish.

Alexander-Arnold did not argue where he played

Gareth Southgate made a number of changes to his squad and gave several players a chance to impress with Palmer, Eberechi Eze, Lewis Dunk and Marc Guehi all starting.

Alexander-Arnold started the game in midfield alongside Conor Gallagher before moving to right back later on.

The position of the Liverpool star has long been a topic of discussion, but speaking after the game he admitted that he is not conflicted about where he plays.

Alexander-Arnold could play a key role for England at the Euros.

“I had a chat with the manager and that's probably where he sees me,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“In my head I'm not worried at all about where I'm playing, I want to play as much football as I can in the summer.”

Alexander-Arnold saw it as a good night for England and they laid the foundation to build on.

“I think it was a good night and it was good, the foundation was laid to build on,” he added.

“After not playing for two weeks, we had to start slowly, we built on it as a team and found our feet in the second half.

“We made changes and got into the lines, we can take a lot of good things.

“I love playing football and it was something I enjoyed, I was looking forward to getting out there, I love playing for my country.”

The Liverpool man has 24 caps, which seems low for a player of his caliber, and has scored three goals.

He is expected to feature in Southgate's final 26-man squad and could be useful for England given his quality, particularly his passing and versatility.
