Guido Schramm, Vladimir Hernandez make weight for ProBox main event
Junior middleweight Guido Schramm has a new opponent on Wednesday night in what could be a fight.
Schramm will face goalkeeper Vladimir Hernandez at the Whitesands (also known as ProBox TV) Events Center in Plant City, Florida. The 10-round fight will headline a three-way card that will be streamed live on the ProBox TV YouTube page and app (8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT).
On Tuesday's scale, Schramm weighed 155.8 pounds. Hernandez entered at the contract weight limit of 156 pounds.
Schramm was scheduled to face former welterweight contender Radzhab Butaev, but Butaev had to pull out of the fight due to a back injury that resurfaced during the latter bout. Chris Glover of ProBox TV was able to find Hernandez last week, thanks to the cooperation of other sports promoters.
“Vladimir has replaced Butaev,” Glover told The Ring over the weekend. “A big thank you to Sampson (Lewkowicz) and Brendan Gibbons (Hernandez promoter) for putting together a fight that could be any fight.”
Schramm, 28, (16-2-2, 9 knockouts), a native of Moron, Argentina and now living in Los Angeles, last fought on November 15th, losing by majority decision to opponent Johan Gonzalez. The battle was again in Plant City.
His last two fights have happened ShoBox broadcast, both against undefeated prospects. On August 4, Schramm fought to a multiple decision against Paul Kroll. On April 7 of last year, Schramm defeated Jahyae Brown by majority decision.
Schramm is encouraged by Lewkowicz.
Hernandez (14-6, 6 KOs) has fought world title holders, contenders, and top prospects in recent fights with mixed results. In his last fight on November 16, Hernandez lost a unanimous decision to undefeated Troy Isley.
In his last fight on August 25, Hernandez won a hard-fought majority decision over rookie middleweight Lorenzo Simpson, who came in undefeated.
Hernandez, 35, who hails from Ciudad Lerdo, Mexico and now lives in Stockton, California, has lost to Jesus Ramos, Israel Madrimov (current WBA junior middleweight title holder), and Souleymane Cissokho, but won against Alfredo. Angulo, Julian Williams, and Aaron Coley.
The feature was scheduled to be a 10-round bantamweight fight between Eros Correa and Walter Santibanes. The fight was canceled after Santibanes weighed in at 123.2 pounds. Santibanes weighed in for the second time at 121 kilograms, three pounds more than the weight in the contract.
The new feature is an eight-round fight between super middleweights Abel Gonzales (6-0, 4 KOs) of Safety Harbor, Florida and Alarnez Reynolds (6-0, 3 KOs) of Auburn, Washington.
“Abel Gonzalez and Alarnez Reynolds put their 0s on the line and that's how boxing should be,” Glover said. “Two young kids are putting their undefeated records at risk. It shows that they are the right fighters.”
Darrelle Valsaint will face Pachino Hill (8-5-2, 6 KOs) of Davenport, Iowa in an eight-round super middleweight fight.
The 22-year-old Valsaint (10-0, 8 KOs), who lives near Orlando, is representing Haiti at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
