Trainer Stephen Edwards feels it is unwise for Adrien Broner to clash with Blair Cobbs tonight in their welterweight fight at the Thriller PPV at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Stephen has worked with Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KOs) before and knows what kind of power he has. He thinks the four-division champion Broner (35-4-1, 24 KOs) should punch in the first round and then work the 34-year-old Cobbs' body in the second half of the fight.
Edwards notes that Broner has gone the longest in his career in 2012 and 2013. He was fighting at super featherweight and lightweight at the time, and is not a natural welterweight. Although Broner has moved up in weight to 147 over the past decade, his strength hasn't kept up.
Broner's Road to Victory
“If Broner hears that, he might not want to go to the ball because I'm telling you, the dude can crack,” said trainer Stephen Edwards speaking to MillCity Boxing, referring to Blair Cobbs as a dangerous puncher for Adrien Broner. trading their welterweight fight tonight at Thriller PPV in Hollywood, Florida.
Broner often throws one-arm punches, makes a lot of noise, and runs out of work. That probably won't change in this fight. He's always fought like that, and he won't change now.
“I think that's a good opportunity for Broner. Go with him quickly, and take him to the second part of the battle and to his body. I think Broner has got a chance at that point,” said Stephen about what Broner has to do to defeat Cobbs.
“In the first part of this fight, he will be dealing with a lot of electricity. I tell you. Blair will be presenting. To me, that's a really close fight. It's really close to 50-50,” said Stephen about Broner vs. Cobbs.
Broner will be hiding if Cobbs hits him early, and he won't let him go unless he gets close and motivates him the way Marcos Maidana did a decade ago.
“It's been a long time since I've seen them fight, I don't know what we're getting. I haven't seen Broner fight in five years, and I haven't had Blair since he left Philly for LA or Vegas. “I don't really know what we're getting,” said Stephen.
You can't blame Stephen for not keeping up with Broner and Cobbs because their fights went under the radar for many fans. None of them fight regularly, and if they do, it's not on the big networks.
“On his best day, Broner is the most successful fighter, but we don't know. When was Broner's peak, 2013, 2012? We don't know. I have no idea. “People keep asking me, but I don't know what we're going to achieve,” said Edwards.
