Man City will be on the lookout for an England midfielder in preparation for Euro 2024

Manchester City have reportedly identified Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as a long-term transfer target.

According to a report by The Standard, the Sky Blues are impressed with the England midfielder and are looking at a move for his future.

Wharton is headed to the Euros this summer after being named by England manager Gareth Southgate in the final Three Lions squad.

The Premier League champions have no intention of signing the midfielder this summer but consider him a future target and could make a move for him if they revive their squad.

The 20-year-old was a prolific player at Crystal Palace, joining the Premier League club from Blackburn in January.

The midfielder has signed a long-term contract at Selhurst Park and has completed a brilliant season under manager Oliver Glasner.

As expected, Crystal Palace have no intention of letting the midfielder leave the club.

Wharton's stock will rise later this summer with the midfielder set to feature in England's Euros squad.

Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton is being eyed by Man City to move on.

Man City may need new additions to their midfield players as Kalvin Phillips is likely to leave the club soon and Matheus Nunes has failed to hit the ground running since joining Wolves.

Kevin De Bruyne has one year left on his contract at the club and his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium is unclear.

To deal with impending midfield woes, the Premier League winners have already identified a plan to stay ahead of their rivals.

Wharton will fit in easily at Man City

The midfielder likes to keep his game simple and his passing is his main asset, something Man City are known for.

In his England debut, Wharton completed all 36 passes he attempted against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After arriving in the Premier League from Blackburn, the midfielder has quickly settled into England's top flight.

Given his young age, he has a lot to learn but his maturity and style of play shows that he understands the game well.
