Teofimo Lopez Gives Frank Martin Advice To Beat Gervonta Davis!

Teofimo Lopez has been a frequent speaker on the current boxing scene, both inside and outside the ring. He considers himself a true fan of boxing. On Saturday night, he shared his details with FightHubTV about the upcoming Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin scheduled for next Saturday.

Lopez commented, “I think if Frank Martin goes and pressures Tank Davis without showing him respect we should see a different kind of exit.” However, this view seems questionable to some observers. Gervonta Davis, known for his impressive 93% average, often punishes opponents who use an aggressive approach.

He then explained, “However, if [Martin] he's getting there just as he respects the power and enthusiasm behind Gervonta Davis, so I believe it's going to be a late night for Frank Martin. ” This statement is especially surprising considering the infamous video between Lopez and Davis. In the footage, Lopez can be seen taking a heavy beating from Davis towards the end of their session, which led to the fight being stopped. Given this history, it is puzzling why Lopez advocated for a strategy that seemed to play to Davis' strengths.

Lopez didn't just comment on the upcoming Davis vs. Martin, however, also gave insight into the circumstances that led to him not accepting a fight with Ryan Garcia. He explained, “It was not coming at the right time. I am grateful that the result for me now is where I can take it. If we meet again and it happens that me and Ryan Garcia face each other, then we will bring USADA, we will bring VADA, and we will bring more testing of the sport to keep it clean.”

Ryan Garcia went on to defeat Devin Haney after turning down Teofimo's offer but later failed a drug test with Ostarine found in his system. If Garcia doesn't face a suspension, the fight between him and Lopez will be one of the most anticipated fights of next year.

Vasiliy Lomachenko, a former opponent of Teofimo Lopez, recently faced another of Lopez's regular foes, George Kambosos. Lomachenko scored a strong and decisive victory over Kambosos. Teofimo commented, “I knew Loma would win; The guy doesn't look impressive in his last outing. Good for him, he gets his flowers as he deserves.” This result is surprising because Lopez previously beat Lomachenko to win the 135-pound title but ended up losing to Kambosos, making Lomachenko's win over Kambosos somewhat surprising.

Lopez also discussed the matter of it being a repeat with Kambosos, he said, “I was looking for that intersection, I didn't find it. They wanted to go with the money to take the Loma war to Australia.” Although Lopez has expressed a desire to repeat, it seems unlikely at this point. Despite the existence of an exciting war, time and circumstances suggest that it may no longer be relevant.
