Arsenal are looking to sign Sporting Lisbon star Marcus Edwards who was playing for Tottenham according to reports.
Having yet again failed in the Premier League title race against Manchester City, the Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad in the summer to ensure they don't miss out on the title for the third season in a row.
Arsenal are believed to be in the market for a striker as they look for a regular source of goals, but could also look to strengthen at left back and in the middle of the park.
Arsenal shakes Edward's eye
After missing out on striker Benjamin Sesko after the 21-year-old decided to stay at RB Leipzig, Arteta has now been linked with a shock move for the Sporting Edward winger.
Portuguese outlet O Jogo reports that the 25-year-old's inability to perform well is the cause of manager Ruben Amorim's frustration, adding that this is one of the reasons why he went from regular starter to substitute.
The report adds that there is a market for Edwards in England and a player who has been on the radar of former club Spurs, and Arsenal are said to be monitoring the situation.
Taking a defender would make sense for the Gunners as they desperately need another option for Bukayo Saka who is playing every minute of every game, and has struggled with fitness issues in the past season.
Edwards arrived at the Spurs academy and despite the big buzz around his name he didn't live up to the hype and only made one League Cup appearance.
He rebuilt his career in Portugal starting at Vitoria de Guimaraes before moving to Sporting in January 2022, where he established himself as a key member of the team and won the league title last season.
In total Edwards has played 110 games so far scoring 21 goals and providing 26 assists, and it will be interesting to see if he is on track this summer or not.
