Man Utd want to sign a £60m star who looks a lot like Foden
Manchester United's 2023/24 campaign has been frustrating for everyone, with injury problems causing major disruption.
Although the defense was often highlighted as a vulnerable department, the attack was also difficult to perform.
Without Bruno Fernandes, the lack of creativity was glaringly obvious, with the Red Devils ending the campaign with a 1 goal difference.
With that in mind, it's no surprise that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are looking to strengthen their attack this summer, with one goal likely to be their answer to Phil Foden.
Man Utd's search for their Foden
According to a report from Football Insider, Man United are interested in signing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer.
United are said to be “very competitive” to secure Eze's signature, as he “ticks a lot of boxes” for INEOS.
However, they will not be alone in trying to sign the Crystal Palace attacking midfielder, with Tottenham Hotspur also keen.
If any club were to secure Eze's services, they would have to pay his £60m release clause, which isn't exactly strong given his level.
How does Eze compare to Phil Foden
It's fair to say that Foden is not just an insanely talented footballer; he is a match winner who played a big role in Manchester City winning the Premier League.
City's number 47 has found confidence in front of goal this season, providing nine assists and scoring 19 goals in 33 Premier League starts, with zero coming from the spot.
However, his performance and his excellence did not go unnoticed, as the Englishman received the award for the best player in the Premier League.
This is exactly the type of player United lacked last season, but the potential signing of Eze could ease the pressure on Fernandes next campaign.

With FBref |
As you can see, Eze has a lot in common with Foden, and FBref even classed them as 'similar players' based on their stats last season.
Firstly, the main characteristics of these two England stars are that they can be a direct threat and create for those around them, as shown by their goals and assists.
They are also incredibly well built and will often score important goals, with their excellent finishing making them reliable in front of goal, hence their xG overperformance.
Eze and Foden can also both create a moment of magic for no reason, whether that comes from a long-range strike or through clever combinations in tight spaces in and around the box.
Apart from the United captain, all of United's attacks are designed to attack, which is why they suffer when facing a team that uses a low block.
This is where Eze could be an important player for the Red Devils if he were to join, due to his ability to dive past players with his amazing play and ability to handle the ball with speed and power, making him a “star”, as called by football commentator Ben Mattinson.
All in all, Eze is simply an incredible talent who just needs a platform to prove himself as one of the best in the Premier League, and securing a Foden-esque talent for £60m seems like a reasonable deal.
