Steph Close to Tears After Defeating KD in Finals MVP, Individually Tag Team

Steph Curry was almost in tears when it appeared that Kevin Durant would win the Finals MVP instead of him for the second year in a row in 2018.

That's according to Curry's former teammate, Nick Young, who recalled how things went down on the Gil's Arena podcast.

“I remember, they were neck and neck, KD and Steph,” Young said. “And Steph had one bad game. KD was beaten. (In the locker room), Steph's head was down, sad with tears. … after winning.

“The man wanted to beat that b*tch. KD was trying to give it to him. Like, KD won last year. He was trying to give it to her. But Steph couldn't shoot, right? Yes, as I think (he was) very low and he hit it in the final.”

That's where Gilbert Arenas came in, saying that although many players won't admit it, they usually care about each award and try to win it.

“When people say this isn't a thing, man, it's a real thing, man, as it is,” Arenas said. “Since I'm about to win something, don't you think I'll want it? But I'll say, “Ah nah, this doesn't mean anything, but I took 38 shots.”
