Tank davis It's not a good arrival show with frank martin

Written by: Sean Crose

Gervonta “Tank” Davis did not make it to the Big Arrival at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas today as planned. Davis was supposed to be the main draw for Tuesday's event, which was intended to be a highlight reel before Frank Martin's payday on Saturday. Instead, Davis didn't come at all. “I want to apologize to the fans that (Davis) can't make it right now because he's delayed,” Davis' coach Calvin Ford told the crowd.

“It is what it is,” Ford said afterward, humbly Fight Hub TV. With that, Ford assured the media that there is nothing wrong with Davis, and said that everything is fine before Saturday's fight. One would hope so, since Davis hasn't fought in over a year. Still, Davis has a reputation for showing up well-prepared and ready for action. There's little chance that won't happen again every Saturday at the MGM Grand.

The simple fact is that Davis is one of the best players in the fight game. Fast, disciplined, and hard-hitting, the Baltimore native has yet to lose a single fight. Furthermore, all but two of the man's 29 fights have ended by distance. Davis' last fight, the official 2023 fight between him and the legendary Ryan Garcia, ended with Garcia being knocked out in seven.

While Martin is not as famous or acclaimed as Garcia, it doesn't help that he is an undefeated fighter, as he has a record of 18-0. Furthermore, the man knows how to hit and is confident going into this weekend. Davis may actually be the favorite on Saturday's fight night, but it would be a mistake to write off Martin. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for the Indianapolis-based contender, and it's doubtful that Martin won't show up to take full advantage of it.

While Davis-Martin may not be a tough fight along the lines of Davis vs. Garcia, it's a fight worth watching nonetheless, between a popular, respected champion and a hungry contender on the rise. The WBA title fight deserved a good arrival, which Davis also has. Fight fans rarely get what they want, however. I hope they get a good game this Saturday night in Vegas. The bout has a quality mark, after all. At least it does on paper.
