Panthers Look To Keep Both Sam Reinhart And Brandon Montour

The Florida Panthers will try to sign both Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour

The Florida Panthers are one win away from winning the Stanley Cup after winning Game 3 of the Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 4-3.

However, while the focus is on the ice and how the Panthers continue to be an impressive defensive team and how they continue to shut down outstanding scorers, General Manager Bill Zito won't have much time to enjoy it as his work is non-stop, especially with two free agents in need of new contracts this summer.

NHL Rumors: Sam Reinhart Continues to Increase His Net Worth

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman was on Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Morning Skate with Gord Stellick and Scott Laughlin to discuss the situation surrounding Florida Panthers unrestricted free agents Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour.

** NHLRumors.com transcript

Gord Stellick: “So from Edmonton we were wondering about decisions that would be a year or two from the beginning. The thought seems to be in Florida that Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour have agreed to stay. I don't know if there are cap issues about the money, do you think it's that simple?”

Elliotte Friedman: “Sorry Gordie, I've been out there for a second.”

Stellick: “Yeah, I'm just talking about Florida. It seems like the assumption is that Montour and Sam Reinhart will remain there as UFAs in the offseason. Do you share that?”

Friedman: “I share that in Reinhart's case. Like, I think they did a lot of work on that. Montour during the year I wasn't sure about that. I've had a few people tell me they believe the Panthers are going to try to keep him, and I kind of wonder how they're going to be able to do it all. But I think they did a lot of work on Reinhart.

NHL Rumors: Expect Sam Reinhart to Stay with Florida Panthers, Brandon Montour ???

I had more doubts about Montour before. Based on what I hear here, I have no doubts now. But Gordie, it's going to take a little work. Be smart about how much space they have to make the whole event worth it. So I wonder if they will have to move people to do it. And we'll see how they work there.”
