Caleb Plant Throws Drink at Ryan Garcia, Near Brawl Erupts at Davis Vs. Martin's event
Caleb Plant threw a drink at Ryan Garcia, almost causing a riot, last Saturday night at the Gervonta 'Tank' Davis vs. Frank Martin at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Plant Throws Drink, Citation Disrespecting Wife
Former IBF super middleweight champion Plant (22-2, 13 KOs), who has lost two of his last three fights, appeared to have words with light welterweight star, Ryan Garcia, when he left the Tank-Martin fight. Plant, 31, threw a drink at Ryan, sparking an altercation.
Plant said Ryan was talking about his wife on social media, and he would not allow her to be abused.
“When you start talking about someone's wife, it becomes a little different. Right now I know he needs a lot of help, but if he continues, I'm sure he'll get the help he wants,” said Caleb Plant while talking to Naji last Saturday night at the Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin fights in Las Vegas.
“I'm not looking, but I'm not looking to be exploited, and neither is my wife,” said Plant when he was told that he wanted to 'beat' people.
“It's just August, August 10 or August 17, and I'm very happy to be back. I've been grinding,” said Plant about when he plans to return to the ring.
Weight Difference Prevents Settling in the Ring
Unfortunately, the two fighters are too far apart in weight to stay in the ring, as they are separated by 3 to 4 divisions. It is unclear whether Ryan, 25, plans to move up to welterweight when he returns to the ring.
He will be coming off a twelve-round decision against WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney on April 20, but Ryan is up three pounds for that fight.
Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) is expected to fight on August 17th against veteran Jesse Hart (31-3, 25 KOs) in a high profile fight. 'Sweethands' Plant has not fought since March of last year when he was beaten by David Benavidez by a twelve round unanimous decision in a tough fight.
Plant's win was two years ago when he stopped former super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell in the ninth round. Before that, Canelo Alvarez knocked out Plant in the eleventh round in 2021.
