Jonas Valanciunas will not participate in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Lithuania because he is an NBA free agent this offseason. The general secretary of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, Mindaugas Balciunas, made the announcement on Sunday.
“Jonas really wants to play for the national team and the insurance situation is not a problem. The situation we cannot meet is unrelated to these two factors. Jonas must be fit by early July when he signs the contract.
