Friedman: “You know just one thing, like I know that Domi wants some time. I, like, I think Max Domi is a perfect guy, I think he's going to enjoy being here for a long time. I think Toronto was nervous at the time. I think if they can get a reasonable term number for both parties, and I think it's possible.
Bertuzzi is an excellent host. I also think they want to bring him back. But again, I think the Leafs are trying to be really careful about the term. And that's one thing that I would be warned about if they lose some of these players, it might be because of more time than AAV.”
The Ottawa Senators will be questioning the No. 7 pick
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Ottawa Senators GM Steve Staios is listening to their 2024 first-round pick, seventh overall.
Executive vice president Dave Poulin:
“We were interested in picking (No. 7). Teams will call you and say, 'Would you like to submit a selection?' and you don't know what that will look like because you don't know what will be found there. You have to stay very flexible.”
They have considered the idea of going back to the beginning (again choosing number 25), or finding someone who can help them immediately.
