The winner of the US Open will bring home a record-breaking payout.

PINEHURST, NC — The US Open champion will be crowned later today at Pinehurst No. 2, but the only question that remains is who that could be.

Bryson DeChambeau enters the final round at seven under and leads Rory McIlroy, Matthieu Pavon and Patrick Cantlay by three, with Hideki Matsuyama and Ludwig Aberg both at five.

DeChambeau already has one US Open title, which he won at Winged Foot in 2020. McIlroy is seeking his fifth major and second US Open victory, although he hasn't won a major since the 2014 PGA Championship.

Matsuyama won the 2021 Masters, but Pavon, Cantlay and Aberg are all looking for their first major title.

Whoever wins on Sunday night will take home the record payout. The USGA announced that the US Open will award a $21.5 million purse with $4.3 million going to the winner – the largest check ever for a first place finisher. The top four finishers all won at least one million dollars, with the runner-up earning $2.322 million.

Xander Schauffele won $3.33 million at the PGA Championship last month, and Scottie Scheffler won $3.6 million at the Masters in April.

You can check out the full list of paychecks for the 2024 US Open below, which you can watch on Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm ET in the USA and from 12-7 pm on NBC.
