Chelsea are closing in on a record-breaking deal after the “world-class” winger passed his medical

After completing their summer business with the arrival of Tosin Adarabioyo, Chelsea are now reportedly closing in on another successful signing.

Chelsea transfer news

The Blues swooped in to sign Adarabioyo on a free contract after his contract at Fulham expired in a smart first move of the summer transfer window. The defender counts among Chelsea's home team due to his English nationality and should go a long way in helping solve problems within their backline.

Speaking for the first time since putting pen to paper, Adarabioyo told Chelsea's official website: “Chelsea is a big club and this is full time for me. I was born three miles from Stamford Bridge and I started playing professional football there. I'm very happy and I'm looking forward to helping push the club where we're going. I want to go.”

Todd Boehly didn't waste any time before looking for a new face for Enzo Maresca, but now it looks like the future star's deal is closing in on completion.

According to The Evening Standard, Estevao Willian has passed his trial at Chelsea before completing an initial £30m move, which could rise to more than £51m to make the 17-year-old the most expensive South American teenager in history.

Enzo Maresca pushes this talent forward.

In a move that follows Chelsea's tradition of signing young South Americans, Estevao will have the pressure on his young shoulders to finally reach the heights he has been signed to achieve. Joined by the likes of David Washington and Angelo, the Brazilian will be part of a young team that Boehly will hope to see flourish in the coming years with a long-term plan.

“World class” Estevao will need time

While it is easy to look at Estevao's price tag and assume that this is a player ready to make an immediate difference to Chelsea, he is still only 17 years old. This is a deal that could be smart and profitable in a few years, rather than one that will benefit Maresca's team as soon as next season. That said, even at a young age, Football Talent Scout's Jacek Kulig has deemed Estevao “world class”.

It will require patience on the part of the young winger. Chelsea find themselves back on the scene this summer after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino and signing Enzo Maresca from Leicester City.

In desperate need of a turnaround, the Blues hope to return to Europe's top flight in time for Estevao to be at his best and prove why Chelsea cashed in early in his career.
